About the Author

Thomas L. Ramsey was born and reared in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Following graduation from high school, he ventured afield, attending college in Louisiana, Illinois and New York. In New York he enjoyed a career in education, where he resided for thirty two years. Upon retiring he lived in Colorado, Arizona and Mexico. While in New York he earned a doctorate in educational administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. He was a frequent contributor of articles in journals of music education and wrote a textbook on teaching elementary instrumental music. Upon retirement he became a serious Spanish student, studying in Mexico frequently and moved to Mexico after the death of his first wife Joanne. While there he published a dual language book in Spanish and English as well as writing essays in local magazines. He returned to Mississippi in 2010 and is a resident of St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. He has contributed numerous essays to The Village Newsletter at St. Catherine’s. In addition he has appeared as an op-ed columnist in the Jackson Clarion Ledger and The Vicksburg Post. He met and married Frances Peacock at St. Catherine’s Village where he resides.
